You can now use Gemini AI with Your Google Business Profile. Lets take a quick look at how this helps you...

During mid-2026 Google has introduced a new integration between Google Business Profile (GBP) and its Gemini AI, and it’s a genuinely helpful addition for small business owners. And since you might not realise it's a thing, I thought it was worth a quick post here.

It's a simple thing to set up, and once connected, Gemini can access your GBP and read your reviews, posts, listing details and performance insights — and then help you manage your profile, all through the conversational 'prompts' you are getting used to using.

For many small business owners, keeping your Google Business Profile updated feels like one more job on an already over-flowing 'to-do' list - even thought you know it can be a valuable local business tool.

This integration aims to make that easier by turning Gemini into an assistant that actually understands your business context. Google describes it as a way to “save time and grow your business” by analysing your real data and helping you act on it.

There is one important caveat that I want you to know about. To connect GBP to Gemini, you must switch on the “Keep activity” setting in Gemini Apps. This sounds helpful, BUT it also means that Google can use your data and interactions to help the AI to continue to 'learn'.  That's a decision for you to make.

Here's the screen shot.

With that in mind, here are some of the genuinely useful things this integration can do.

1. Understand Your Reviews More Easily

Gemini can read all your customer reviews and summarise the themes — what people love, what they mention most often, and where improvements might help.

This is especially helpful if you have dozens of reviews and want to quickly understand the patterns.

You can also ask it to draft replies in your own tone, referencing the specific feedback the customer left.

2. Analyse Your Performance Insights

Instead of clicking through menus, you can simply ask:

“How did my business do this month?”

“Which search terms are bringing people to my profile?”

“Are my posts making a difference?”

Gemini can analyse your impressions, direction requests, calls, website clicks and customer engagement — using your actual GBP data.

This makes it much easier to understand what’s working and where to focus next.

3. Create Better Posts, Faster
Because Gemini can see your reviews, services and past posts, it can help you write:

  • updates
  • offers
  • event posts
  • behind‑the‑scenes stories

It can also suggest ideas based on what customers are searching for or asking about.

This is helpful because you don't have to give it  a load of context or explain stuff over and over. For busy small business owners, this can save a lot of time.

4. Update Your Profile Conversationally

You can ask Gemini to:

  • change your opening hours
  • update your contact details
  • add attributes
  • adjust your service list

All by describing what you want, rather than navigating the GBP interface. This is especially helpful if you find the dashboard fiddly or confusing.

Is It Worth Using?

For many small business owners, yes — it can save time, reduce friction, and make GBP feel less overwhelming. The ability to analyse real data and turn it into clear actions is genuinely helpful.

However, the requirement to enable activity saving is something to consider carefully. If you’re comfortable with that setting, the integration can be a powerful tool.

How to Try It

If you want to explore the integration:

Sign in to gemini.google.com with the Google account that owns your Google Business Profile.

Then in the chatbox, use the identifier @GoogleBusinessProfile
and then make a simple request such as 'how can you help me'

if it's your first time doing this, then you will have to confirm and follow the prompt to approve the connection between your GBP and Gemini. If you haven't switched on 'Keep Activity' it won't work properly and won't have access to your GBP.

When you have made the connection (you only do that once) then you can start having a play and do a bit of testing. Why not start by asking for a summary of your reviews, the top 5 compliments you receive or something like that.
